Cold-blooded Murder? Yes! Legitimate Resistance? No!

The Israeli Occupying Forces (IOF) were stunned as an attack on one of their convoys by Palestinian resistance fighters caused the death of three and injured four others. One other soldier has been taken hostage. The lives of Israeli soldiers are apparently worth more than that of Palestinian civilians, dozens of whom have been killed in the past two weeks in the Occupied Territories. The Israeli Defense Minister has vowed to take revenge on those who perpetrated the attack, as Prime Minister Olmert not surprisingly put the blame on the Abbas and his government. Israelis seeking revenge for soldiers killed in battle is acceptable, but Palestinians seeking revenge for children and innocent men and women killed in cold blood is not. Welcome to Israel, the "only democracy in the Middle East".

The Hamas led Palestinian government had this to say about the attack:
"We are calling on the resistance groups, if they do have the missing soldier... to protect his life and treat him well," said spokesman Ghazi Hamad, speaking in Hebrew at a press conference.

"We urge Israel not to go towards an escalation," he said.

An article in the Washington Post completely disregarded the above statements made by the Palestinian government's spokesperson, and instead opted to include Abbas's condemnation of the attack.

This is what he had to say, from Aljazeera:
Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, condemned the attack in a statement saying: "We have always warned against the danger of certain groups or factions leaving the national consensus and carrying out operations for which the Palestinian people will always have to pay the price."
In another statement from his office, Abbas had this to say:

''All [factions] had agreed to continue the cease-fire and stop all the military attacks against Israel, in order not to give Israel any pretext to launch a large-scale military operation that they were threatening our people with in Gaza. This attack contradicts all we heard.''

Who is this man kidding?! Since when does Israel need a pretext for firing missiles into Gaza and the West Bank?! Since when does Israel need an "excuse" to attack Palestinians on beaches, in their homes, and in the streets?! Israel does whatever it wants, whenever it wants, to whoever it wants. Without any regard for human life, Israel launches attacks left and right on a daily basis, and gets full support from its strongest ally, the US.

The most that Abbas could muster is a condemnation of a legitimate resistance attack on a military target; a basic right for every occupied population in the world. What a shame!

Unfortunately moi,the definition of the term “terrorism” has been altered to exclude the most dangerous form of terrorism: “State Terrorism”, often practiced by the Zionist state and the U.S.
The latest definition of the word states: (The use of force or violence by a "person or an organized group"…… with the intention of intimidating …). Compared to a more accurate older definition (the calculated use of violence "against civilians" in order to attain goals; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear.)

Notice how the new definition does not mention “against civilians” (which puts any act of legitimate resistance or any form of guerilla war (more feasible option for the weaker and the poorer) on the same level with murders of the likes of Zarqawi.(previous comments on Hareega blog)...

And on this occasion here is a brief letter whom I hope i van enhance, expand and publish later on y blog:

Dear Mr. Jewish Settler,
I hope you are (not) enjoying your stay in my family’s house until I come back. I understand that along my daily struggle to send you back to wherever you came from, I has been inadequate in providing you with daily rations of F-16’s, top of the line tanks shelling, wireless explosives and assassinations. I was not able to target your childrens’ schools and was unable to demolish your illegal property constructed on top of my land. I was unable to shell your family picnics with sea battleships missiles. So I will apologize for that, while continuing to use my home-made missiles, my stones and my body to target you and, whenever I can, the soldiers who are protecting you. However I promise, whenever I am able to afford or able to obtain the F-16’s, the M-16’s, the Uzi’s, the “rubber bullets” and the naval artillery, I will be more than happy to provide you with similar daily doses of what you have been showering me with.
In the mean time, this is all I've got, so this is what I am giving you, whether you like it or not.

It is a revolution until victory…
By any means necessary…
Hasta la Victoria Siempre

Yours,
Palestinian

Hey, Abu Shrek (I love the name), how about paying your water bill? What if Mr Olmert will see the light of wisdom and instead of transforming you and/or your friends into a new mujahed poster with a few rocket blasts, he will simply cut your water supply till the soldier is back? Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

its always nice to have a forum for a free and frank discussion. if that's the aim of the blog, great. however, please do not let it be used to spread more hatred between people.
whether we like it or not, we have to stay together on this planet earth.
the earlier we understand each other, the better for all.

Andy,
According to the Fourth Geneva Convection the jewish occupation is responsible for the “well-being” of the population UNDER THE OCCUPATION. Capital punishment of an entire population by cutting off water supplies (your genius suggestion), and the mass starvation (already and systematically enforced daily) are considered WAR CRIMES according to the same convention. Actually, I forgot, the jewish state and those who blindly support it, do not respect or abide by international law, so maybe cutting off water supplies is a viable solution for a terrorist state.

Moi,
If you think my letter is over the top, or that it is promoting hate and violence, please feel free to delete it from the comments. I find it a simple factual narrating of events. Thanks.

What occupation? Israel won 1967 war against Jordan, Egypt and Syria. We have formal peace with Jordan & Egypt and there are no Arabs on Golans. I was suggesting cutting water and elecricity in Gaza, which is not occupied - Egyptian border is wide-open. And, which convention says that we must supply your victuals for free? Yet, there are multy-million debts for anything. Who told you that world must feed you forewer? Jewish refugees from Arab lands are not living in camps - they actually rule Israel on-pair with European Jews. Grow up, Ishmaelites, it's about time.

Abu Shreek-- Thanks for bringing that up. In my books, however, state terrorism will always be considered a form of terrorist activity. I find it absurd that we should exclude "states" and "governments" from the definition just because some find that convenient these days. Thanks for sharing your letter, I have no problem with it. They are your thoughts and feelings and I welcome that here on my blog. I only delete comments that make personal attacks against myself or other commentators, or use extremely obscene language.

You letter brings up a point that many Palestinians have been attempting to voice to the rest of the world: we are trying to resist this oppression in any way possible; just because we don't have F-16's doesn't mean we should sit and watch our people being killed and our homes being destroyed. As I mentioned, resistance is a right for every individual facing oppression and occupation. I highlighted this specific attack because the target was the Israeli military and I do not see why anyone would condemn this legitimate form of resistance.

Andy-- Abu Shreek's 2nd comment is what I had in mind. Israel is not doing the Palestinians a "favor" by providing them with a trickle of water; this is their obligation under international law as an occupying force. And I'll just say "no comment" regarding your statement that Gaza isn't occupied.

John--One of the aims of this blog is to promote constructive dialogue and discussion on a variety of issues that concern many people across the world. I try my best to make sure that these discussions do not turn into a chat-room style where people just hurl insults at one another, and promote hate or racism, or anything of that sort. Like you said, we are all humans living on this planet, and we must find away to bridge the gaps and understand differing points of view in a peaceful manner. Thanks for your comment and I hope you will continue to contribute to the dialogue on this blog :)

Kilamxx--You're right that appeasing the Israeli state hasn't stopped them from continuing their oppression. However, I believe that Muslims have an obligation to treat prisoners humanely, just as the Prophet instructed us to do. This is also mentioned in the Geneva Convetions, although Israel doesn't give a damn about them. Regardless, Muslims should not turn into the monsters who capture, torture, and kill prisoners as Israelis have done before.

abu shreek,

Israel is not a party to the Geneva conventions. Your point is moot.

"Resisting opression" sounds so cool and sexy. PLO was founded in 1964, three years before the war. What territiries were occupied then? Now, tell me why "palestinians" weren't integrated in Arab societies the way Oriental Jews were integrated in Israel? Nobody cares about your actual well-being, that's why. Now, do it again - go to a coffee shop, sit together and cry. The only thing that can move your stagnant society forward is an immediate cessation of international help - this will motivate you to get sober and to choose sane leadership. Stop living in Disneyland - the longer you cling to delusions of turning back the weel of history the worse your hang-over will be. Ciao!

andy,
Give me back my grandfather's house and the school that my dad went to and I will not bug you with the myth that is "the palestinian people". I am not referring to pre-historic ancestors (a laughable 2000 years ago) and I am not claiming biblical-times belonging. I am the first generation born in a tent and the world you think is tired of me is still updating my refugee card and promising me a return home.
All these offers you mentioned were calls for me to compromise with occupying strangers who were collected from all over the world to infringe on my existence.

Jacob,
Try withdrawing from all of Palestine and I promise you that no hate crimes will be targeted against jews anywhere. After all Islam has no problem with Judaism as a religion, but with Zionism as an acceptable form of extermination in this century, just like fascism was in its respective time.

And please allow me to end this exchange here, since it is turning into a form of normalization that is pointless.
