anniversary
it seems ironic to me that i started this blog and never had time or energy to post until today, sept.28th, which happens to be the 5th anniversary of the Palestinian uprising, Intifada.
i don't want to think about the politics of this issue (very hard to do) but just the pure humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territories disturbs me to a point where i feel that i cannot express this frustration, even in writing. im not as interested in what the intifada has accomplished as much as i am in how the israeli government has acted throughout this period.
major issues include:
-construction of the apartheid wall
-jailing of thousands of palestinian political prisoners
-deaths and injuries caused by israeli attacks on palestinians
*total deaths of palestinians: 3,400 (children: 700)
- home demolitions
*total homes completely demolished: 24,678
*total homes partially demolished: 25,211
-increase in settlement construction
-checkpoint humiliations and abuses
when will justice be served?
