More Information:
Since July 13, Israeli forces have killed close to 400 Lebanese civilians in a massive bombing campaign targeting civilian infrastructure and homes. During the same time, more than 100 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli incursions into the occupied Gaza Strip and West Bank.

Israel’s assault on Lebanon has injured thousands of civilians and made more than 500,000 homeless, half of whom are children. Israel has directly targeted civilians, flattening them in their homes and apartment buildings or cutting them down in their cars as they try to flee the fighting. Most of the key roads and bridges have been bombed along with a milk factory, convoys bringing food and medicine, gas stations and power plants, creating a humanitarian crisis of major proportions.

In other news, this is from ADC as well:
Washington, DC | July 24, 2006 | Today, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) filed a federal lawsuit claiming that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld failed to fulfill their constitutional and professional obligations and protect US citizens in a crisis or time of war.

In the lawsuit, ADC alleges that the defendants placed US citizens in peril by not taking all possible steps to secure the safety and well being of US citizens in Lebanon. Further, the lawsuit asks the Federal Court to issue an order compelling the Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense to request a ceasefire and to stop any shipments of weapons or any other military support to Israel during the evacuation of all US citizens out of Lebanon.

ADC President Hon. Mary Rose Oakar said, "At no time has President Bush, Secretary of State Rice, or Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld called for a ceasefire in Lebanon. To the contrary, the Bush Administration has encouraged the violence by sending an urgent shipment of bombs to Israel giving that country the green light to continue in its indiscriminant bombing of Lebanon." Oakar continued, "This has placed innocent civilians, including thousands of US citizens, in harms way and has resulted in injuring several US citizens in Lebanon."

ADC is joined in today's lawsuit by several American citizens who have returned from Lebanon after escaping the violence and others who remain in Lebanon. The lawsuit was filed in Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. ADC and its co-plaintiffs are represented by the law firm of Nabih H. Ayad & Associates.

ADC still around? i thought they have contracted out of existance. hard to tell if they are left or right or center, but one thing for sure, they know how to rub elbows with the dictators. may be this is one of the reasons behind their downfall, along with AAI. they pretty much lost most to their members to islamic groups. sort of what is also happening in the Arab world. the price of political corruption is the loss of the grassroot support. but the idiots prefer to get the dirty money than to side with the grassroots.

Do you really think that this protest is going to stop the war?

If the Israelis go to war against terrorist Hezbollah, what business is it of the United States?

Do you think that the lawsuit against the Secretary of State stands a snowball's chance in h*ll of winning in court?

What would the United States do if a non-state group in Toronto came across the border and kidnapped soldier after years of launching missile attacks at Buffalo?

The Israeli bombing raids has been replaced with a ground campaign; is now the time to protest?

If you were Israel, what would you do to protect your citizens against Hezbollah?

Anon--no organization is perfect, and everyone makes mistakes. I may not like every single thing ADC does, but I cannot deny their contributions to the Arab-American community over the past 25 years.

Bill Smith--The protest will not stop the war. Politicians who care about the views of their constituents can stop the war. I believe that silence about injustice is a crime.

When the US provides military aid to Israel every year in the billions of dollars, and sends emergency shipments of missiles to Israel to use against Lebanon, how can one claim that its not its business?! The US is now directly involved in and responsible for the death and carnage inflicted on the Lebanese people.

What would the US do if Canada took Americans into custody without charge after two decades of occupation of American territory?

If I were Israel I would protect my citizens by ending the illegal occupation of Palestinian, Lebanese, and Syrian land.

Anon#2--Silence is compliance.

killing must stop--hopefully the international community and the Arab and Muslim world can stop the Israeli murdering machine.

First, the U.S. providing weapons, by definition, would make the U.S. INDIRECTLY responsible. The U.S. did not pull any triggers or launch any bombs into lebanon.

Second, who cares if the U.S. WAS directly responsible? The entire Islamic community hates us anyway, so there is no reason for us to try to please them. It will never happen. I say we give Israel more and more bombs. Keep Islamic Jihadist countries pre-occupied. While we're at it, since we've been blamed for going to war for oil, i say the U.S. should go ahead and live up to the reputation and start stealing oil. Make my gas prices go down. Thats all the middle east is good for now anyway.
